SO NOT SABLE

I don't think Sable Colby would be happy - neither would Aaron Spelling, although he turned over in his grave last year when Linda Evans cooked herself into a frenzy on British tv and Joan Collins is probably having a laugh into her glass of champagne whilst going for a wig fitting.

Stephanie Beacham is a housemate in the new series of Celebrity Big Brother and I'm not entirely happy. Whilst it's wonderful to see this fabulous camp icon on TV, I'd sooner she was putting her shoulderpads on and getting involved in a great drama or soapie. Instead she's going to be humiliated on a daily basis and wear bizarre outfits - all in the name of fame, I would have thought that Stephanie being 60 or 62 now would be thinking enough was enough and she will stick to what she knows best - being a great British bitch on TV rather than chasing a larger profile. I find it all a bit degrading. It would have been worse if it had been Joan Collins - she is a diva of the old school and although Stephanie and Kate jumped on her coat-tails in the 80s, I'd hate to see them degraded in a reality show.

Stephanie does have some true grit - right away she sat down and held court. When ex Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss showed up, Stephanie looked aghast and said "I'm Stephanie - who are you?" To be fair, Heidi looked like a cross between Jackie Stallone and her son Sylvester - she's been pulled more times than one of her hookers.

I should have known of Miss Beacham's hunger for fame when I saw her on Strictly Come Dancing two seasons ago - but really Miss Beacham - put on your sable and your Sable and just be that living relic of a bitch legend we know you are. I don't want to watch unless you're delivering zingers to the housemates at any opportunity, in other words, it's a disappointment.
