During class tonight, I put on a CD that I haven't used in years but by God it brought back some childhood memories.... Wham! This London duo of George Michael and Andrew Ridgely were probably most significant in my life because I was strangely attracted to a yummy looking George Michael in the 'Freedom' video with his top unbuttoned and banging on a tambourine. Andrew Ridgely I could pass on but Gorgeous George was definitely part of the first leanings towards queer bait that I experienced.
Not only did they play fab songs, have huge shoulderpads and bigger hair than Joan Collins but they were cute and George like getting his tits out a lot and had kissable lips. I also loved the Club Tropicana tape (not a CD) that started with a the sounds of a party and then you could hear a couple of pairs of stellys clicking down the stone path toward the party. When watching the video George and Andrew are cart tarts eyeing up backing singers Pepsi and Shirlie. But to beat even this camp factor, George and Andrew strip down the skimpiest of speedos that apparently had shuttlecocks down them to fill them out and sang about fun and sunshine cos there's enough for everyone! Well there was plenty for me.
I loved Wham and tonight I belted out 'The Edge of Heaven' and 'I'm Your Man' for the latin class doing a cheeky wee jive. The ladies in lycra loved it as they shook their shammy and most of their cellulite to Wham. Now George is in an open relationship with Kenny Goss, smokes hash a lot, has had at least an eybrow lift and definitely a facelift and argues with Elton John. Elton's just a bit of a tosser whereas in my mind, George will always be wearing a shuttlecock down his knickers.
