TWO TONE STRIPES DON'T WORK FOR ANYONE

My infatuation with all things Bette and Joan is continuing relentlessly, since last weekend I've watched 5 movies starring them and it shows no sign of stopping. I was almost due to go out on Wednesday night but couldn't be bothered so stayed in to catch the end of 'Now, Voyager' which is one of my favourites. I suppose you all must think that all Bette movies are my favourites but 'Now, Voyager' is really one of the all time greats.

My work had a BBQ on Friday night which was tonnes of fun and I got really hammered pretty easily on the cheap vodka doing the rounds. We had hired a karaoke set and made loads of use of it, I managed to squawk my way through Dolly's own 9 to 5 and then I made a guest appearance as Lulu in Relight My Fire - it was an inspired choice and my high pitched tone went down a treat along with my deep bass sound, I can't sing a note but I did my best to be as bad as possible and I think I pulled it off, kind of.

After the BBQ, I went out with Jon and Cameron for a wee shammy although by then, I think I had drunk myself sober, this was in high contrast to last night when I had a rare wee tear at Polo. It was Stewart's birthday and we were all in attendance although Stewart was doing his usual and disappearing every 5 minutes. Cam and I nabbed a drink just as the till was closing and when Stewart shouted over for a drink, it had been closed - his delightful response, directed at me "horizontal stripes don't work for him" was his catcall. I know I've said myself in the past that horizontal stripes don't work for anyone as they make you look heavier, although he probably could wear them considering he has the same body shape as someone who lives in a crack den with an attitude to match.

Jon was oncall from work and so drove us home last night, my neighbour Steven, his flatmate Craig and Craig's on again/off again boyfriend Rob (he of the Wandering Palms disease) also jumped in. I stupidly made arrangements to make breakfast for them today which they duly turned up for and we spent the rest of the afternoon, gossiping, trading sex stories, chatting about ex loves and ex friends and generally having a laugh. It's the longest I've ever spent in their company and being sober is a different kettle of fish than a quick chat when out in a nightclub but I needn't have worried. They were all simply delightful and have a similar sense of humour to my group of friends. My new mission is to sort out my holiday for next year, I'll need to book it soon so I can pay money to each it month, Jon's wanting to do Miami and New York and I simply have to go to New York - it's essential. I'd love to do the cosmopolitan thing and take semi regular jaunts over there and be the fabulous person I'm supposed to be.
