And so it came to pass that Desperate Housewives returned to screens last night in America and nabbed it today and have just finished lapping all the juicy details up.
It started as it had just finished. Zach was holding Susan hostage with Mike walking in. Betty Applewhite had just moved in, Lynnette was going to return to a career, Bree was mourning the death of Rex her husband and Gabrielle's husband had found out about her affair with the gardener.
The show finished not in Dynastic melodramatic fashion but rather kept me pondering although the truth about Mary Alice was revealed which was pay off as I had waited all year to find out why she topped herself.Don't read ahead of you don't want a sneak at the activities of the women of Wisteria Lane - This year's premiere episode produced some wild and wacky stuff. Rex's mother arrived and was determined to have Rex buried in his orange prep school tie. Bree was undoubtedly the star of this show in a scene that shocked me and made me laugh out loud almost as much as Edie Britt's hat for the funeral.
But most shocking and secretive of all is that pesky new neighbour, Betty Applewhite. She and her son prepared a meal on a tray, Betty went downstairs to the basement carrying the tray whilst her son carried a gun (as you do). She placed the tray down and left whilst all the viewer caught was a glimpse of a hand reaching for the food whilst being tied by some sort of restraint and let me tell you, it wasn't bondage gear. The way that Susan rescued herself from her hostage situation and the consequence of her actions had to be seen to be believed - I just wish there was more more more of Edie Britt although next week she takes a new lover - Susan's ex hubby. We also see Susan complaining to Betty about strange noises in her basement which sets up yet another goddamn mystery. Desperate Housewives is back and I'm delighted, my new guilty pleasure can be indulged once more.
Quote from the show goes to Andrew Van De Kamp believe it or not after Bree banished Rex's mother from the funeral.
"I'm sure she was a real bitch! But she's family, so that makes her OUR bitch!"
