ZINGERS FROM LA COLLINS
Well I know it's been incredibly shabby of me by not posting all of last week. I wanted to but couldn't really be bothered but am raring to go again. The main talking point of Thursday and the few days beforehand was Joan Collins' appearance on Footballers Wives. What with the return of Zoe Lucker's Tanya Turner, the show seemed to be going back on track. Tanya was frantically snorting cocaine, wearing garish outfits and scheming whereas Joan seemed to saunter through her scenes with grandeur as if the whole thing is a pale imitation of what she does best anyway. It was set up as the battle of the bitches which it kind of was but I just got the feeling that Joan was kind of expecting better and nastier duelling. There have to be concessions, Dynasty season's ran for 24 episodes and Joan is guesting on only 2 episodes - the next one sees her character Eva go stark staring bonkers and attempting to strangle the perma tanned Tanya. I've got a few weeks before Joan's one woman show comes to Scotland and I get to see a last shot of real glamour so am savouring her episodes on Footballers Wives. Her fabulous wardrobe on Footballers Wives was wonderful although I'm a sucker for shoulderpads. She did manage a few zingers on the show but none of them top Joan herself when she she wrote a column recently for the Spectator reporting from the Oscars. La Collins namedropped very well talking about Jennifer Lopez stopping by at the Vanity Fair party to say hi along with Mick Jagger and she sat with her old pal George Hamilton. The best was saved for last though as she was leaving....
'We ran into a petite woman in a lavender décolletage dress. We kissed each other on both cheeks fondly and she said, "It’s good to see you, Joan." "Why, Madonna, I never knew you cared!" I replied
They really don't make them like Joan anymore.

I was ferociously disappointed with Joanie's first appearance in FW, but the next one does look promising.
