I've had a rather blah weekend staying in and working although did go out for a little while last night. The past few days my neighbour has awakened me at 7am with his radio going off in his bedroom as his alarm. Now this is fine if I'm getting up then but on Friday I wasn't due into work until 10 and on Saturday at 9 so I was getting mighty pissed. So pissed that I went and slept in my second bedroom or the prison cell as I call it. It's a decent size but only has a double bed a chest of drawers and a bedside cabinet and a clothes horse on it for what seems to be a permanent basis. Last night I planned in a drunken stupor to get my own back on my neighbour by buzzing the bastard's door at 3am when pissed to give him a taste of his own medicine. This morning I awoke at a decent hour which was fabulous and not a chirp from my neighbour. I think the fact that I banged the wall the other morning and yelled "Fucking Cunt!" may have had something to do with it. But seriously, I woke up from his alarm, how deaf is he if it goes on for about 20 minutes before he turns it off? The upside is that I always get the Radio 4 news first thing so am up to date on all current affairs by the time I've brushed my teeth.
Last night was a bit blah and I'm missing my friends down south. I'd spoken to Jon and David who were enjoying Brighton whilst I sat about contemplating whether or not to buy an Ally McBeal dvd. I love Ally McBeal and I love the porn name of the show - Ally McSqueal. I remember saying to Julia once a few years ago that I thought it was a really intelligent comedy. I have great memories of that show especially when it aired on Wednesday nights at 10pm and I would lie in bed with a piece and jam and a caramel wafer and a can of Irn Bru and laugh so hard and uncontrollably. I never bought the dvd today either but after writing about it just now, I'm going to buy it tomorrow!!
Bank holiday has been quiet - Cameron and I did venture out last night but I called it an early night and texted David a bit. Today Jon called aswell to say they were watching some drag act in a bar and that he's coming back home to Glasgow to stay. I hope he's making the right move but I'm thrilled to have one of the sisters back. I also hope David settles into his wild rota of jetsetting about the world. Today I wandered into town, had a fabulous lunch with my friend Alan which was well needed, had a good gossip, chew and chat and then I came back to have dinner at the parentals, being the greedy bitch that I am. As with every bank holiday Monday - a bit of Bette Davis was in order. For some reason, most bank holidays if I'm not away - I make a point of sticking on some classic Bette, that's me contented with some 40s melodrama - I don't need anything else. Tonight I revisited the classic Old Acquaintance where Bette's the critically acclaimed author and Miriam Hopkins is her best friend who is more popular with her lusty novels. Bette is superb although her haircut is a bit severe. Miriam Hopkins is a scene stealing swine and although Bette hated her in real life, the chemistry makes for a great movie. They don't make movies like this anymore. If they did nobody could do the job that Davis and Hopkins did. They were real actresses - bulging eyes and clipped vowels included.

Old Acquaintance is a great BD movie. I got that one on DVD not so long ago actually. I'm sure you read the stories about how Bette and Miriam constantly tried to upstage each other when they were making it? Apparently Miriam vowed to never make movies again after working with Diva Davis.
