On Thursday I head to London for a few days of showstopping fun. I heard the awful news at the weekend that my all new favourite show "The Drowsy Chaperone" is closing at the start of August. Thankfully i will get to see it before it closes. It's a crying shame as the music is superb and it's non stop hilarity - certainly from the soundtrack anyway! Miss Elaine Paige better be on top form on Thursday night. Then Saturday will be a sad night as London's original Glinda in Wicked finishes up. Helen Dallimore hasn't been warmly received by my friends as much as I loved her performances as Glinda the Good. Helen will be opening the Australian production of Wicked in 2008.
Aside from that, I just plan to chill out which will probably mean getting roaring drunk as often as possible. Just like The Drowsy Chaperone herself.
I love London although on my last visit, the hustle and bustle didn't appeal to me as much and I preferred the laid back attitude of Brighton and what it had to offer. I wonder how I'll feel this time, we may visit Brighton on Saturday after Wicked but will play it by ear.
Was out last night with Cameron. I was on cheap night escapade so anybody who offered out of politeness to buy a drink had that offer accepted with no hesitation so it turned out to be a cheap night with loads of laughing and dancing. We set it up well by getting rather merry watching Madonna make a tit of herself on Live Earth. Madonna's always one for starting new trends but the crazy gyppos she roped into fiddle playing and grunting on stage is one fad that may not last. And who on earth would want to see a 48 year old mother of 2, riding a ghetto blaster??? Well only a few billion people I guess. Any time Madonna said "fuck" last night I had another drink so was well oiled before leaving the flat.
From a crazy singing legend to an ex popstar. Siobhan Donaghy released an album called Ghosts the other week and I finally got it from iTunes. It's sophisticated and interesting - it seems a bit gloomy but actually hooks me in very easily. It probably won't set the charts alight which is a shame as it deserves to do well. Some standout tracks on a quirky album make it definitely in my top 5 albums this year.
