Yes they do. I've not been patient enough to wait for Channel 4 to screen my newest favourite TV show - Desperate Housewives, so I've been downloading it off the net. This gem is currently No. 1 in USA ratings and for good reasons. I explained a few months ago that the premise was simple. Four friends lives are exposed when their best friend Mary Alice Young shoots herself. They all stay in Wisteria Lane and are all housewives. And they're all desperate in some way.
It's only fair to give a heads up on this hilarious and sometimes rather smart for it's own good but in a good way show!
Let's meet the girls...
SUSAN MAYER
She's a single mother who hasn't been with a guy since her husband left her for his secretary. My favourite character played by the fabulous Teri Hatcher. She's unlucky in love all the time and the most sincere of the group. She's falling for mysterious new neighbour Mike but has competition from....
EDIE BRITT
Blonde bombshell, thrice divorced Edie is the neighbourhood whore. Soap almost legend Nicollete Sheridan plays for kicks as sexpot Edie. Her breasts never move but she's all action and pouting lips. She's not officially a housewife but more a trampy vixen.
BREE VAN DE KAMP
Stepfordesque Bree is played by Marcia Cross who whipped us up as Kimberly Shaw from another guilty pleasure of mine Melrose Place. She is obsessed with having the prefect family life but when it falls apart she takes drastic action. Her husband claims "Your tried to kill me!" Bree replies, "Yes, well I feel badly about that" Her hair, twinset and pearls are perfect but her private life's a mess. Just like....
LYNETTE SCAVO
Felicity Huffman is Lynette.She gave up a promising career to become a fulltime stay at home mother to 4 children. These kids drive her almost to insanity. So much so that she abandons them at one point to teach them a lesson and also jumps into the pool to drag them out during Mary Alice's wake!
GABRIELLE SOLIS
The stunning Eva Longoria is Gabrielle. She's in a loveless marriage. Her husband gives her jewels and gifts but no affection - so she finds it in the arms and loins of her 16 year old gardener. Cut to a scene where to save the affair she mows the lawn decked out in haute couture!
All of these women are friends who are shocked by the death of their friend Mary Alice who narrates the show from above. They find out things about each other and Mary Alice as they try to discover why their friend killed herself. But everything becomes entangled as secrets and lies and lust and laughs are revealed along Wisteria Lane. PS - This show is fabulous!

Ah, Teri Hatcher!! She still is a s beautiful as her days on Superman. Does anyone remember the war between ITV and The BBC between baywatch and the new adventures of superman??? I remember the sun (very credible rag this side of the pond!)were pitting Pammy and Teri against each other, just a thought....
Wonderful wonderful Marcia Cross. It's been far too long since Melrose Place and Desperate Housewives shows just how good she is. I love her!
