FOREVER FALLON

As is the case in many soap operas, there are cast changes, characters come and go - maybe it's a hazy childhood memory but I always remember it being Dynasty that had the most cast changes. Not the characters but the actors who played them. Poor Blake and Alexis - they had 4 children and throughout the run each of their children changed bodies!

The most controversial change was when the darling Pamela Sue Martin decided that she'd had enough of playing spoilt brat cum savvy businesswoman Fallon Carrington after 4 seasons.



Dynasty was water cooler talk at the time and challenging Dallas but despite protests from fans and cast members alike, Pamela Sue was offski! Fallon was suffering headaches as her wedding to Jeff (again) approached. As the ceremony was due to begin and the guests assembled, Fallon disappeared into the stormy night, Jeff chased in his car, Fallon's headaches were making driving hazardous and lo and behold, the season ended with Fallon's car crashing and screaming heard!!!

The next season started with Fallon gone AWOL leaving Jeff and his eyebrows devastated! Dynasty made the No 1 spot in the ratings and to entice viewers, producers decided they wanted Fallon back - although a funeral had taken place (her body was never found). Pamela Sue was contacted but repeatedly knocked back the offer to return. The plotline was written in and daytime actress Emma Samms was hired. She was a brunette like Martin but that's really where the similarites ended. Samms was British for a start!



Fallon turned up in a tacky raincoat in LA suffering from amnesia in the penultimate episode of Dynasty's 5th season. It would take a spinoff to The Colby's for Fallon to regain her memory and a further 2 years and an alien abduction for Emma Samms to be a proper Dynasty cast member and claim the role as her own.

FYI - John James who played Jeff found out that Emma Samms would be playing Fallon when he watched a TV show one night and it was announced!

FYI again - Pamela Sue Martin ended up posing for Playboy and not being a terribly successful actress.

FYI again!! - Joan Collins warned Pamela Sue from leaving the show. Pamela Sue "wanted to be in movies". Joan's reply to that.... "Yeah?! What movies has she been in?!!!"
