A SABLE FOR WINTER!

Much as I adore Caress Morell in 'Dynasty', I'm a huge fan of the other British Bitch in the soapie and I'm not talking about Queen Joan. Stephanie Beacham portrayed Sable Colby in Dynasty's 1985-86 season to introduce The Colbys to viewers. After that she span off to California for 2 years of being the Colby Cow before that show was cancelled.

Viewers however had taken Mrs Colby to their hearts and to revitalise Dynasty and to perhaps put Joan Collins in her place, they rehired Stephanie to reprise the role in Dynasty's 9th season to spar against Joan's Alexis. The inside goss was that Joan had decided to leave the show regardless of whether or not it was cancelled and Stephanie was being groomed to take over the superbitch role for Dynasty's 10th season. This never happened as Dynasty was cancelled and we were treated to wild cliffhangers of Sable up the duff by Dex and Alexis falling over a balcony at the Carlton with stud horse Dex!

Ratings were dropping quickly, Joan was heading out, Linda had already left and John Forsythe had mentioned that he wasn't going to stay in the show without the trinity of him, Linda and Joan so ABC pulled the plug on this most dynastic of sagas and Stephanie moved on to other shows. She's recently been back on British screens as devious Phyl Oswyn in Bad Girls and guess what - for an episode of 'The Bold and The Beautiful' she again turned up playing Sable Colby in a cameo scene alongside 'Dynasty' alumni Christopher Cazenove who also played devious Ben Carrington.

Sable had some cracking scenes in season 9 of 'Dynasty' and had more onscreen time than Joan's Alexis, partially due to Joan scaling down her time on the show and also due to the fact that Joan was the highest paid woman on TV at the time - she cost too much to appear in every episode.
