SISTERS ARE DOING IT FOR THEMSELVES

There's nothing more curious than the thought of having a colonic. The second most curious thing for me is the friendship between sisters. Famous sisters are far more interesting rather than the run of the mill neighbours siblings that fight a bit. As with all animal societies, there's always competition between sisters and I think the possibility of a cat fight keeps everyone intrigued.

- Lana and Natalie Wood had an odd relationship, with Natalie having a massive careers and making the jump from child actress to superstar and Lana being the competent B movie actress although she beat Natalie at surviving longer.
- Joan Fontaine and Olivia de Havilland argued a lot as Olivia was older but Joan won the Oscar first - Olivia then nabbed two just for spite. Joan was known as being more dramatic but Olivia held the trumps by being Melanie Wilkes in Gone With The Wind.
- Lorna Luft didn't turn up to Liza Minnelli's wedding to David Gest but was seen months later nursing a separated Liza. Liza had the Oscar, the Tony and the Emmy whilst Lorna managed a guest spot on Murder, She Wrote and a role in Grease 2.

2 sisters who have kept me interested more than most are Joan and Jackie Collins. Together they helped define a decade of style. Joan as conniving and uber glam Alexis in soapie sudster supreme 'Dynasty' that's pronounced Die Nasty by the way. Jackie made millions of holidays in the sun a lot more interesting with a slew of blockbusting soap style novels with titles like 'The Bitch' and 'Hollywood Wives'

Now, Joan arrived in Hollywood first and Jackie followed, apparently being deflowered by Marlon Brando before he got fat, greasy and died. Joan had a budding career with Fox Studios but was regularly beaten to roles by Liz Taylor although she managed a reputable career. She headed back to London in the 70s to support her family whilst Jackie tried her damndest to make it as a novelist Myabe the timing was right, but Joan asked Jackie for the movie rights to her novels The Stud and later The Bitch which she made into highly lucrative ventures and brought her back into the public domain as her sister's creation, the exotically named Fontaine Khaled.

Joan then landed the part of her life as Alexis in DieNasty and Jackie used her wild stories of Hollywood battles, bedrooms and boardrooms to carve out a career as an author of scandalous Tinseltown books. Jackie had the right connections and as she's said many times, the names of the characters have been changed to protect the not so innocent! Joan and Jackie were now in monetary terms as successful as each other although Joan had more fame being on TV screens each week - Jackie eventually eclipsed her to being the wealthier of the two.

Now although everyone thought there was a rivalry, I'm not so sure that there is. Jackie didn't make Joan's most recent nuptials to Percy Gibson as she had a deadline for her publishers but her children were all in attendance. Although Jackie is based in America, when she comes home to the UK she meets with Joan regularly and vice versa. The media will never be satisfied with this but I must say, I love seeing these two ladies together - probablt because I love Joan, I love Jackie, I love shoulderpads and I love big hair and bitchy one liners!
