I got an email from the wonderful Lubin last week who said he was popping up for a jaunt to Glasgow for a few days and if I wasnted to meet up with. Now who am I to knock back a chance to meet a fellow blogger and trash afficianado?! So then the dilemma was not really what to talk about but where to take him. I would have suggested a trip to a sex club or sauna or local bridge club but thought a drink and a bite to eat would suffice. We wandered about Glasgow and chatted constantly about all things campy and trashy. Bette Davis and Joan Crawford were high on the agenda and comparing tit bits of information and hidden trashy gems was definitely fun. It also helped that he is definitely hot tamale so conversation was better, especially when they're easier on the eyes! I gave him a severely dodgy movie with Agnes Moorehead - it's beyond tacky and not really great on the acting side except Miss Agnes - she certainly worked the screen and chewed up the scenery in a similar fashion to Endora in Bewitched. I think it's right up Lubin's street and next time he's in Glasgow I'll need to tour him round some of the less desirable bars although he was surprised at the mix n match of people in Delmonicas on Friday night. One spotty Simon Cowell trouser wearing queen started to chat incessantly to us which annoyed me, especially when I was talking about Dynasty and Linda Evans plastic surgery issues!
Jon moved into his new gorgeous flat last week and we had a some drinks and nibbles on Sunday before heading out on the town. His flat is peachy keen and he's now the proud homeowner - I only hope he's as deft at getting stains out of his couch as I've become - and I ain't talking red wine stains either.
I've become slightly obsessed again with Bette and Joan in preparation for the new Bette Davis DVD Collection due out at the end of the month with a 2 disc special edition of "Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?" and some rare Bette classics like "Old Acquaintance" and "Marked Woman" So I'm watching Bette's nasty turn as Mrs Taggart in The Anniversary which is shocking but wonderful. Bette really is "The Most Merciless Mother Of Them All"
I also got a cheeky copy of Joan Crawford as "Harriet Craig". She filmed this in the early 50s and it's typical Crawford. Harriet Craig lives in the perfect house, everything she does must be perfect, from her wardrobe to her house to her husband. When things don't go her way, she manipulates the situation to her advantage although ultimately her downfall as she's set her expectations too high and demands perfection. Apparently Joan Crawford and Harriet Craig weren't too different in some respects and I think I'm possibly channelling a bit of Joan in myself with her high standards. I'm obsessed with bleaching toilets and nothing pleases me more than a nice table arrangement or not a speck of dust on a dark surface. Next, I'll be going crazy over wire hangers or bushy eyebrows!!

Going crazy over wire hangers is best especially if you have children who can be scared for life!
