GOOD MORNING

It's 1986. Dynasty had beaten Dallas to become Number 1 in the Nielsen ratings although it was struggling itself. Dallas producers knew a shakeup was required. They were in a mire, the lusty ranchers and oilmen of Dallas were involved in international intrigue at the hands of Anjelica Nero and the craziest dress sense in the world. Her European assistants were causing havoc and Sue Ellen had sobered up. There had been a cast reshuffle the year before, Patrick Duffy wanted out so was killed off in the last episode and Donna Reed was changed back to original Miss Ellie, Barbara Bel Geddes. To top it off, the ratings still hadn't picked up, Larry Hagman was unhappy - he missed Patrick on the show so called him.

Patrick had lengthy chats with Larry Hagman and Leonard Katzman who had concerns over the direction producer Philip Capice was taking the show to. But then the dilemma was how to bring Patrick back a year after being killed. Millions of viewers saw Bobby flatline in the hospital with the rest of the Ewing clan in attendance, Victoria Principal had a gorgeous shade of eye shadow in honour of the event! A bizarre and outlandish climax to the season was outlined and the plan set in motion to stage one of the wildest TV moments ever!

Anjelica Nero had taken a dislike to JR Ewing and had turned resident murderess. She set up a meeting with JR and planted a bomb in his briefcase whilst intending to blow up cousin Jack Ewing in his car. Her plan was nixed when Jack's sister, the horsefaced, Jamie Ewing got blown up instead and Anjelica was cuffed and arrested. JR dashed out the office to find out what had happened to Jack and his wife, the now sober Sue Ellen turned up at Ewing Oil just in time for the office to explode.
The sound of the explosion must have woken Pamela Ewing who heard the shower start. She got up and wandered into her bathroom (bearing in mind, she had just married her suitor, Mark Graison) as she opened the shower door, lo and behold, there was her dead husband, Bobby Ewing with a cheery greeting of "Good Morning!"

Audiences had to wait over the summer to discover the fate of Sue Ellen and Jamie and if it was Bobby in the shower. Within a few minutes of the new season starting, Pamela realised that the whole season previously had been a dream of hers and Bobby was indeed alive and well and was intending to get back with Pam for good and finish with Jenna Wade. This was a straightforward way to explain Patrick Duffy's return and wipe out a slew of character story arcs and crazy antics. This definitely goes down as one of soap's wackiest plotlines but the expression of Victoria Principal is priceless - these were times when Victoria could make expressions as she hadn't started on her plastic surgery mission by then - and of course Patrick Duffy in the shower certainly isn't hurting the eyes!
