GOODBYE AND ADIEU

This past week has been a very difficult time for me. I've been through the mill and now have to say goodbye..... to The West Wing and Will & Grace. Two of my favourite shows finished their runs on US TV this week and I sneakily downloaded their last episodes and shed a few tears. The West Wing completed 7 years of being probably the highest quality TV imaginable with Jimmy Smits being inaugurated to the White House and Martin Sheen and the rest of the cast leaving although many of them returned to office as part of Smits' new administration. Martin Sheen and Stockard Channing had the last word as Air Force One flew over the seas toward their new lives!

And from serious moments to the wacky world of Will and Grace. Karen and Jack stole the show - Karen lost all her money and Jack didn't want to sleep with the impish Beverly Leslie and keep them both in clover. She pinned him against a wall and told him to "do what every self respecting woman does. Get on your back, point your heels to Jesus and think of handbags"

They also sang a touching version of "Unforgettable" and their was a dodgy fantasy sequence where Jack married Kevin Bacon and Rosario was a leather bull dyke! What cracked me up as the show progressed and skipped forward so many years, the characters all aged in makeup to look older except Karen who breezed through looking exactly as she always had done! I'll miss this show a lot although it's always on DVD for some easy watching!!

Finally, I said adieu today as the season finale of Desperate Housewives was screened in America last night. There were lots of flashbacks as it showed all the housewives arriving in Wisteria Lane and meeting Mary Alice who killed herself in episode one. One deaths, a hit and run, the truth about a long forgotten murder and an escape from a mental institution rescued a patchy season and I think by having the wives stories all intermingle again made this show worth watching again.
