I have been watching clips of the Tonys over the past few days - Christine Ebersole won for Grey Gardens, David Hyde Pierce won for the fabulous Curtains (download the cast recording it's fierce!) Spring Awakening dominated although I don't know why - it doesn't appeal to me but I'll hold my final judgement until I hear the score. A Chorus Line was robbed I tell you! ROBBED! Of Best Revival and beaten by Company which ps - announced today it's closing on July 1st as it's been playing to houses of around 50%. The Tony voters got that one wrong. A Chorus Line cast had the opening number and it was fabulous as they danced outside Radio City Music Hall!
So I've actually turned into Man In Chair from The Drowsy Chaperone who always sits and listens to his favourite musicals and if he had the internet like I do, he'd be watching snippets from them all on Youtube! I had to go out to the shops just there as my eyes were feeling so heavy and crosseyed as I'm so hooked on all this campness.
Obsessed by musicals, I long to just burst into song although I can't sing and in work today I even did a few pirouettes - I was THAT dramatic! I hope this phase continues as the show music is just fabulous just now.
I insist you all must listen to Christine Ebersole singing "The Revolutionary Costumer For Today" from Grey Gardens and also "What I Did For Love" from A Chorus Line revival and for good measure an oldie Natasha Richardson singing "Don't Tell Mama" from Cabaret revival.
Go on - you know you want to!
