REMAKES, MUSIC AND CAMEOS AHOY

Saw Hairspray on Saturday - it's what all the fags do. This remake of the musical which was a remake of the original movie was nothing short of fabulous.

John Waters movie from 1988 starring Ricki Lake and the unforgettable Divine was a smash hit. Then in 2002 it was made into a Broadway musical and again, audiences went wild for the catchy numbers and it's main stars, Marissa Janet Winokour and Harvey Fierstein taking on Divine's role of Edna Turnblad. Now in 2007, John Travolta, Michelle Pfieffer and hottie of the moment, Zac Efron whoop it up in the movie of the musical.

The songs were great, the sets and design fabulous, the men were hot and the dancing sublime. I couldn't recommend it enough - what was even better were the cheeky cameos. John Waters himself played "The flasher who lived next door" in the opening number Good Morning Baltimore. Mink Stole who has appeared in virtually every John Waters movie also has a cameo on the streets of Baltimore and finally, Ricki Lake who got her big break in the original movie as Tracy Turnblad and then went on to her own crazy talk show and credits Divine as the person who taught her how to walk in heels plays an agent in the shows finale.

Fabulous Fabulous Fabulous - and James Marsden doesn't hurt to look at either!

I do want to see it - still haven't been. Heard it wasn't as good as the original but from your description it sounds very promising. This weekend perhaps...
