ALL ABOUT AVA

I'm a big fan of glossy drama as everyone who reads this blog knows that. I just watched an old dvd box set I bought a year or so ago and you don't get much glossier or perfect than Nip/Tuck.

Nip/Tuck has everything you need in a show, stunning cast, nice sets, witty dialogue and shitloads of plastic surgery on top of the most fucked up plot lines this side of Twin Peaks.

Season 2 of Nip/Tuck is the one I've just watched and have 3 and 4 to wade through after my current Dallas marathon.... Sometimes I think even I'm too soapy for my own good.

So Nip/Tuck has the hunky Dylan Walsh as Sean and hunkier Julian McMahon as Christian, Joely Richardson is Julia and "the antagonist" this season was Ava Moore.

Ava was hired by Julia's mother originally as a life coach for Julia who then hired Ava for her son Matt to improve his studies and well being. Ava was a smart cookie and seduced Matt and quickly deduced that Matt was Christian's child from a one night stand with Julia 17 years previously. Matt adored sleeping with psycho and slightly disturbed Ava who thought nothing of being ploughed by him. Ava, however had more secrets than you could shake a stick at. Firstly, her sociopathic son, Adrain showed up just after Matt had orgasmed and was none too happy especially now that Matt was getting the Ava Loving rather than himself.

Now this is when things really kick off. Ava was sleeping with her son?!!! We see this in an episode. Adrian is rather hot so in a way I could understand. Adrian was played by Seth Gabel from Dirty Sexy Money but anyway, she was his mother. But she wasn't. It all came out that Ava and her hubbie had adopted Adrian years earlier.

Then Christian got pissed at Ava as Matt was going to leave with her to start a new life in Paris so the two of them had sex but something wasn't right and that's when the big twist comes into effect.

Ava it turns out is a transsexual who was a gay man called Avery. He met Barret Moore the pioneering transgender plastic surgeon. Avery fell for Barret who proceeded to create "the Hope Diamond of transsexuals" Ava became Avery but they split and Ava disappeared as Barret saw her as a creation rather than his wife. Ava then reincarnated herself magnificently as a life coach. She agrees to leave Matt when confronted with her past but not easily. She needed her vaginal canal deepened and wanted the last part of her transformation to take place. She apparently slept with younger men as they would be inexperienced and not notice the shallowness whereas a monster cocksman like Christian did immediately. Sean and Christian get Barret to perform the operation. By this time, Adrian has discovered the truth and in a fit, brandishes a knife at his mother, they embrace and Adrian turns the knife on himself. It's all terribly dramatic but Ava's story and deceit isn't over just yet. She then leaves her dead son and fucks off to Paris anyway.

It's so crazy it's almost unreal and possibly is but my god it made for amazing television. Famke Janssen as Ava is superbly brilliant and I loved having her on the show as uber bitch tranny Ava Moore. And that really is All About Ava - for now
