In February and April this year - 2 basically benevolent volcanoes are coming to our screens.
In February, Joan Crawford has a new dvd collection coming out - she goes wild in Torch Song, Sadie McKee, A Woman's Face, Strange Cargo and my personal favourite, Flamingo Road.
Flamingo Road is where she plays 'carni' girl Lane Ballou - from the wrong side of the tracks who falls in love with the ol' rich folks up on Flamingo Road - it's soapie stuff, so much so that they did make a soap out of it in the early 80s with the same title.... More of that one later.
An even more exciting announcement is that to celebrate Bette Davis' centenary, there is a Film Festival in Glasgow showing some of her classics AND the new Bette Davis Collection Vol 3 is being released.
Bette chews the scenery with Miriam Hopkins in "The Old Maid" which is the precursor to that other Davis/Hopkins classic "Old Acquaintance"
She does the homewrecker with poor Olivia De Havilland, a possible mudereress against Charles Boyer, melodramatic as all hell in Deception and the good saint against Mary Astor in The Great Lie. One of the discs will also have the great early 80s documentary 'Bette Davis: A Basically Benevolent Volcano'
I'm actually peeing my pants at the amount of scenery chewing and eye bulging coming in the next few months.
