Another week has passed without a blog entry. I have been working out like a fiend. In fact, my dedication is such that on Saturday morning (yesterday) I was to be found squatting for my life with my trainer at half 9. I was so exhausted, I went to the cafe in the gym for some breakfast after the session and could barely lift my glass. It was so difficult but rewarding as I am definitely feeling the benefit of working out. I'm off to London next week so doing one or two more sessions with Ross my trainer to help get me in tiptop condition.
I also went out last night for a crazy night, Rod my friend from London is up for a few days and we went had a mental night out. There were 8 of us just cutting a rug on the dancefloor and doing crazy shots. This was followed by a trip to the casino which is actually like something out of the 1980s. It was all carpeted and bright and absolutely jumping at 4 in the morning. They have a late alcohol license so get all the gays going in, betting their butts off and acting like card sharks. I just got confused and found the whole situation surreal so headed to the sauna for some well needed man action.
Alcazar's album Disco Defenders was released and it really is fabulous. I would review it but I'm too into it to type. I must say, there is a track called Harlem Nights which is a definite pastiche of Beyonce's Single Ladies and a song that The Pet Shop Boys wrote called Baby which is utter trash. More on the camp band later. Speaking of camp......
I have become slightly obsessed again with Agatha Christie novels. I bought an omnibus of her novels that don't have Poirot or Miss Marple in them as the sleuth. I just finished "N or M" which had Tommy and Tuppence as the crime fighters during the war in a boarding house trying to find a 5th columnist. it was rather twee and Agatha had me twisting in knots and there were plenty of red herrings. I did have a suspicion about M but had no idea who the N was. I know that last sentence is confusing but read the book and you will understand! Now I move on to one of the best book titles ever - Sparkling Cyanide. The set up is totally different from N or M and the timeline is jumping and the main characters are distorted. In fact, I'm the sleuth so far. It's all very camp. There are a catalogue of different suspects and characters with motives to committing a dastardly deed. They all seem like plausible but we shall see what Agatha has up her sleeve with whodunnit. Borders books were doing a special deal on Agatha novels yesterday. It was buy one and get one free - so I did. I'm being careful and buying novels that I've not read and know the result. That would spoil it. I have seen the movie "Death On The Nile" at least 20 times but never tire of watching it. Reading the book after seeing the movie actually spoiled it for me. As I knew Agatha's twist was coming. I'd much prefer to get the surprise! So Sparkling Cyanide and then who knows what one will be next!?
